The beta
Open Envelope is free while it's in beta. This page says exactly what that covers, so nobody has to guess.
What's free
Everything. Every design, every feature, no card required.
- No limit on how many events you create.
- No limit on guests per event.
- Email invitations and reminders are unlimited.
- Text messages are included up to 350 per event, to numbers in Canada and the United States. Past that, or outside those countries, your invitation still goes by email.
What happens when pricing starts
Any event you create during the beta stays free through to its event date — even if that date falls after pricing begins.
If you're planning a wedding eighteen months out, you will not be asked to pay partway through. The event you started free, you finish free.
We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before pricing starts, and we'll tell you what it costs before you have to decide anything.
How long things stay available
Everything stays available for 60 days after the event, then it's deleted.
That includes the invitation link, your guest list and all the replies. Guests can open the invitation and change their reply up to then. You can delete an event sooner, and that removes its guest list with it.
If you want to keep your guest list or your final numbers, save them before the 60 days are up.
Our privacy policy covers what we hold and how to have it removed.

- Replies within one business day.
- Same day during the week of your event. If something goes wrong close to the day, that's not the time to wait in a queue.
What "beta" actually means
The product is new and it's being worked on constantly. Things will change, and some of them will change quickly.
What won't happen: a change that affects an invitation you've already sent, without telling you first.
If something doesn't work, tell us. During the beta that's genuinely the most useful thing you can do, and it gets a real reply from a person.
